'Gidget' movie director Wendkos (84) died after a film career spanning over half a century. Although he was involved in over 100 films and television shows, Paul is best known for the quirky 1959 'Gidget' surf film. He died from a lung infection following a stroke, and is survived by his second wife, a son and granddaughter.
