Tiger attack victim, Dalu, had previously saved another game-keepers life after he was also attacked by a white tiger at the Zion Wildlife Gardens near Whangarei in February 2009. Dalu was killed while cleaning the animals enclosure. Several tourists and fellow workers witnessed the attack. Dalu is survived by his partner and one year old daughter.
