Promising twenty year old Waikato rugby forward and former world junior rowing championship gold medallist Tyler's death was an enormous shock, He was found dead at his Cambridge home where an autopsy revealed he had died of natural causes, He was a member of the Waikato Rugby Union Academy and was originally from Wanganui where he rowed for the Aramoho Rowing Club. He was in the the gold-winning eight at the junior world champs in Amsterdam in 2006 and went on to win a junior world champs silver medal in the under-19 eight in Beijing the following year.
