Norman died after falling onto rocks whilst trying to save his trimaran in stormy seas near Taranga Island. Norman and his 16yr old son had been fishing and had anchored overnight in a bay when the storm struck. Norman ran the popular Skyline Cafe at the top of the Brynderwyn Hills, near Waipu.
