Former All Black Paul (60) was involved in a jet-boating accident on Lake Ohau and died as a result of his injuries. Paul played seven games for the All Blacks on the 1976 Argentina tour. He also played for New Zealand Universities from 1973-76 and played a total of 86 games for Otago from 1973-1982.
