Two year old Ludahvick was accidently run over by reversing 4WD in a Wairoa driveway tragedy. Safekids director Ann Weaver said five or six children – usually two or three years old – were killed on New Zealand driveways each year, and on average there was an injury accident every two weeks. This tragedy has sparked debate for cars to be fitted with technology, scuh as cameras and sensors, that would help prevent reversing accidents.
