Nancy (98) was a World War II heroine and had been honoured wirth bravery awards from France, UK, Australia and the USA. Infact she was the Allies most decorated servicewoman. She had been living in France when the Nazi's invaded and joined the French Resistance movement. Her code name was "The White Mouse", earnt because of her ability to avoid capture and she was on the Gestapo's most-wanted list, with a bounty of five million francs on her head, dead or alive. She was born in Wellington and while she left the country as a toddler she was recognised for her life's effort with a "heritage pylon" on Oriental Parade in Wellington in 2010.
