Dick (91) was a noted World War 2 bomber pilot who had flown two tours with 75 (NZ) Squadron. His colourful military history saw him enlist in the RNZAF shortly after the WW2 began and he transferred to Britain in July 1940. He joined 40 Squadron and flew over 30 operations before being rested with a ground posting for 19 months. The in April 1943, he returned to the pilots seat as squadron leader of 75 Squadron's C Flight.
