Up to 117 people were believed to be on board the Princess Ashika ship when it overturned around midnight on Wednesday 5th August 2009 85km northeast of the capital, Nuku'alofa in the Tongan Islands. There have been several confirmed fatalities as many passengers were alseep under deck when the boat capsized.
