James "The Thunder" was 54 when he tragically died following surgery on a brain tumour. He was a champion super heaveyweight boxer (1986 - 2002), He won a Gold medal at the 1986 Commonwealth Games. Amongst many wins he won the Australasian heavyweight title twice before his career ended in 2002. Although born in Apia, Samoa, he grew up in South Auckland He will be forever remembered for his grit and determination and for being warm and friendly. RIP Ti'a.
