A kitesurfing accident turned to tragedy for Ruben (35) when a he was picked up by a freak gust and blown into a tree. The accident happened at Wakapuaka, near Nelson and was witnessed by his wife. Ruben was a photographer and landboarding instructor, and was well known and well-liked among the local kitsesurfing community.
