Nayan (4) was fatally struck by an out of control car in Christchurch. The accident happened when Nayan, his mother and six year old brother where walking on the footpath and a car slid from side to side before leaving the road hitting the boys. Nayan died at the scene and his brother was seriously injured with multiple fractures. Their distraught mother escaped largely unhurt. Linwood Avenue is well known for boy racers which sparked concern the accident was a result of it, but police discounted that saying the accident was caused by bad-driving not boy racers.
