Jamie (30) was the 2012 Canterbury Mountaineer of the Year and was pursuing what he loved when tragedy struck while climbing The Remarkables mountain range in Queenstown. He was familiar with the terrain but it was an avalanche that took his life after he was swept 500 metres down the mountain. He has been described as being one of NZ's greatest climbers having a high level of technical skill, superb fitness, and unwavering mental fortitude.
