Allan (42) and his passenger Derek Hammond (49) lost their lives in a fatal helicopter crash near Whangarei. The tragedy happened when the Robinson R44 they were flying crashed in Glenbervie Forest while surveying the forest land for the timber harvesting company Rayonier. The pair were contract workers and the Civil Aviation Authority are investigating what caused the crash.
