Melissa (38) was involved in a tragic climbing accident in the Fiordland National Park. She was visiting from Sydney, Australia, and climbing with her husband in the Darren Mountains when they lost their footing and slid over a broken ice field. They were well-equipped but the ice on the mountains at the time of year they embarked on their climb, was treacherous. Melissa's husband escaped with non-life threatening injuries.
