Former top policeman, Neville (59), died after a serious fall at his home. He had spent 37 years in the police service, including a role as police liaison officer in Washington DC. He was also manager of operations (now called the police national headquarters), was national commander of the special tactics group, and is credited with helping introduce pepper spray to handle violent criminals. He retired from policing in 2008.
