Jo-Anne (55) died in the devastating earthquake which struck NZ in the earlier hours of the morning. She and her partner were fleeing their log cabin at Mount Lyford village when bolts holding the log cabin down failed. The 7.8 magnitude earthquake which struck the South Island's north east was the most powerful since the Napier earthquakes in 1931. Jo-Anne will be buried at her family plot in Kaikoura, the worstly affected town during the event.
