Tofamamao (21) was a promising rugby player who lost his life in a three-vehicle crash on the Rakaia River bridge which resulted in a truck and trailer unit plunged off the bridge. In 2007 he moved to New Zealand from Samoa having won a rugby scholarship to attend Roncalli College. He also played for the Celtic club, the South Canterbury under-18 side and the senior development team. He is survived by his parents, two brothers and a sister.
