Sam (74) was regarded as the best All Blacks lineout forward of his era. He was the Manawatu's 14th All Black and played alongside other legendary players like Colin Meads. He first played in 1967 and went on to play 45 matches, including 17 tests. He will be forever remembered as a humble man. In 2011 he was named one of Manawatu's Legends of Sport. He is survived by two sons and a daughter. RIP Sam.
