Don (72) was an internationally recognised conservationist who is credited with helping save the NZ Black Robin. His conservation career started in 1957 when he joined the Wildlife Service and became involved in pest erradication. His work with the Black Robin and Kakapo began in the 1970's when he was working on the Chatham Islands. He died from pancreatic cancer.
