Former Black Sticks coach and 1976 Olympic Gold Medalist Paul (61) has shocked the hockey community after living for only three weeks after being diagnosed with skin cancer, He had gone before many could say goodbye. Paul infamously rebuilt the NZ Black Sticks in 1993, taking the team from 23rd to sixth in the world. In 1998, after the team the bronze medal at the Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur, he stepped down from his coaching role. His Olympic Gold Medal was won at the Montreal Olympics in 1976.
