Doug (41) was a Corporal in the elite SAS unit and lost his life in a Taleban attack while serving in Afghanistan. He was attempting to rescue civilian hostages at the British Council when he lifted his arms, leaving himself vulnerable as his body armour did not cover this area, and was shot. A bullet entered and pierced his heart. He is survived by his wife and two young children.
