District Court Judge Michael (63) succumbed to a two year illness. He spent most of his working life in Dunedin and Timaru running his own law firm, but in 2006 he was appointed as Wanganui's District Court Judge. Known to love reading and classical music, he also spent as much time as possible on his motorcycle. He has been described by colleagues and employees alike as a kind, considerate and gracious man. He is survived by his wife and son.
