Josie, an American billionaireness, gave art works worth an estimated $115 million to the Auckland Art Gallery, developed two luxury golf resorts in the Hawke's Bay, and helped to set up a library in Kerikeri. Josie and her husband Julian (honorary Knight Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit) were regular travellers to New Zealand for 30 years and were well known for their generous acts of philanthropy, She died of breast cancer and is survived by her husband, three sons, three grandchildren and four siblings.
