Francis (77) died on the eve of the ANZAC dawn parade. Given he was a Veitnam war veteran and was to planining to attend the ANZAC memorial event at the Auckland War Memorial Museum, his family organised for hiis casket to be placed on a concrete bench in front of the Weeping Wall in Auckland Domain.
Francis was an officer in the Royal Regiment of the New Zealand Artillery in the 161 Battery stationed at Buckingham Palace before fighting in the Vietnam War in 1965.
