When a bitumen tank exploded while safety improvements were being undertaken it tragically killed 21 year old welder Kieran. He was carrying out welding work on the safety rails when the 18,000 litre tank exploded which, witnesses say, sounded like a 'sonic boom'. The incident happened in an industrial area on the West Coast of New Zealand.
