Highly regarded artist Sir Peter Siddell was a self taught super realist painter and his work was mainly of landscapes, streetscapes and buildings in the Auckland area. He was made a Companion of the Queen's Service Order for community service in 1990 and was knighted in 2008, becoming only the second New Zealand artist to recieve the honour. He is survived by two daughters.
