Daryl (38) will be forever remembered for his work which helped launch a Crown inquiry into historical state care abuse. He himself had an appaulling childhood which was documented in his book "Through the Eyes of a Foster Child". He died unexpectedly after a two month battle with pneumonia and a virus which saw him on life support for a month. He is survived by his wife and five children.
